A Big Blow

Title

A Big Blow

Date

1920s or 30s

Description

A photocopy of a newspaper cutting showing a crowded Market Place in the 1920s or early 1930s. A personal suggestion is that is part of a Reepham Annual Band Festival; there are at least three lots of brass band members in uniform amongst the crowd which also includes women and children.

The heading 'A Big Blow' is also more suggestive of a band event rather than a gathering of agricultural workers. Hilton's Stores gives a possible date of 1923 or later. (JDA/Aug/2016)

Included with this item are notes by Wesley Piercy about this picture indicating that it might have been a county rally of agricultural workers.
