Our Policies

Reepham Archive policies

Here we set out how we try to ensure the best possible outcomes for our contributors and visitors, our volunteers and our collections.

Collections policy

Version 1.2, 13 April 2021

The Reepham Archive collects heritage material and information that relate to the history, people, trades, businesses, groups and events associated with Reepham and the surrounding area. These items are kept for research purposes and for display on our website for future generations.

Residents past and present are invited to share their memories of life in the town and the surrounding villages.

We welcome donations of documents, papers, photographs, maps and other items, such as video and audio recordings, and will copy any items if you prefer to keep the original.

We aim to collect items with provenance from a known source and with as much context and information as can be supplied, including the donor’s permission to copy, publish and, if necessary, dispose of any items.

We collect material from any date in the past up to the present. (Memorabilia, artefacts and works of art, which are more appropriate for a museum, are not normally collected.)

Donors must have permission from the owner of the materials to submit them to the archive. (In the case of media, if you took the photograph or video, you are the owner.)

While we prefer to receive donations from a known source, anonymous donations are also welcome: they often add to information already held or are valuable in their own right.

We do not collect material that relates to other areas of Norfolk or the county in general. These can be offered to the Norfolk Record Office or an appropriate local archive.

Please contact us if you think you have any items you would like to donate to the archive.

Take‐down policy

Version 1.2, 4 June 2021

The Reepham Archive is committed to making digitised content available online. Although every effort has been made to identify and contact copyright holders, we recognise that sometimes material published on our website may be in breach of copyright laws or contain sensitive personal data.

If you believe you hold the copyright to any item we display, please contact us at the address below with the reference number of the item, the webpage address (URL) it is on, your contact details and proof that you hold the copyright (or are authorised to act for the copyright owner).

Upon receipt of any complaint the material will be temporarily removed from our website, pending an agreed solution. We can then:

  • take down the item permanently and no longer display it without your permission;
  • put up a redacted version hiding sensitive data; or
  • keep the item up unchanged (if we have grounds to reject your claim).

Note, however, that the copyright for some items lies with third parties, and in those cases we may not be able to arrange permission.

Please contact us for permission to reproduce any content for commercial use or use on other websites.
