The Leicester Monument stands in the park at Holkham Hall, dedicated to Thomas William Coke, Earl of Leicester.

Narrative of Proceedings Regarding the Erection of The Leicester Monument with a Statement of Account and List of Subscribers by Robert Leamon of Whitwell Hall. 1842-1850.

The photograph of the book shows a hard back book approx. 120 x 190mm with a soft brown cover and stamped with the Leicester Ostrich in gold.
On 2 July 1842, the day after the death of Lord Leicester, a meeting was called by his tenants and the local gentry to consider raising a monument in his memory. Robert Leamon of Whitwell Hall was elected Chairman of the Meeting. This book, his original copy now owned by his descendant Mrs. Ann Ellson was loaned to the Reepham Archive in 2014 to copy. Leamon issued his report and statement of account on completion of the work in July 1850.
