An account of an accident in 1811 in which a gentleman on horseback died while crossing the ford at Booton, some years before a bridge was constructed. Also an account of the removal of the windmill at Booton. Both articles from a handwritten letter by Harry Hawes (1863-1957) to the editor of an unknown magazine.
