G Fisher's Shop, before 1903

Title

G Fisher's Shop, before 1903

Date

1890s (est)

Description

Sign declares "G. Fisher Grocer Draper and Outfitter"
Label on the back says the shop gave its name to Fisher's Alley. A second annotation says "G. Fisher mentioned in 1896 Kelly's Directory"

Taken before 1903 when the roof-line of Hall's, the Saddlers, next door, was altered. Cropped from a wider view.

In 2019 this is now the Farm Shop and Deli, previously Mott's Pharmacy.
The original postcard with broken glass attached was left in the Bircham Centre for the Archive by an unknown source in Oct 2019 together with a quantity of papers concerning the Hall family who owned the saddlers shop next to Fishers in the early 1900s.
