Reepham's New Fire Engine

Title

Reepham's New Fire Engine

Date

1931

Description

The new fire engine was purchased from the Lowestoft Brigade in April 1931 when Captain Thirtle and the Lowestoft Firemen gave a demonstration of what it could do to a crowd of 1000 in Reepham Market Place. Afterward they were entertained to dinner at the Kings Arms under the Presidency of the Reepham Captain S.P. Eglington.

The engine was manufactured by Rose & Co, Manchester and said to be capable of pumping water half a mile at a rate of 400 gallons a minute.

The funds were raised by the people of Reepham in just over one year.
